another watercolour girl

I'm late for Paint Party Friday this week. Work commitments and study commitments are wriggling their way into my life. But I love it, despite the busyness :-)

I painted another watercolour girl. I have so many of these drawings in my journal but it's hard to find the time to paint them. I love doing it though.

And here are three more weeks of diary-pages. From now on I hope to keep up with it every week.

I rediscovered my Dylusion sprays. I love the bright strong colours, but I hate the fact that they stay water soluble. So I hardly ever use them. But they are perfect to use in combination with watercolours.

I changed my writing too. My messy non-dominant handwriting was really starting to annoy me, so I tried something I used to do as a kid: writing while holding a ruler underneath it. At least it looks a bit less messy, plus it's a fun way to write.

I now really need to start my yearly calendar, but since I painted so little this year it's going to be hard to find enough images. I will have to use images from older work again. Plus I might make a calendar of my roadmap-faces. Hope to show a few pages next week already :-)

Well, that's it for this week. Except for the funnies of course ;-)

and the more serious ones ....

Thanks for your visit! Hope all is well with you! Wishing you a beautiful day, and something to look forward to in the weekend! See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

Finally blogging again ....

It has taken me longer than anticipated but here I am again! This week is the first week in almost a month that I finally feel as if I'm in control again. Phew ...

My market is behind me and in the end I was glad to have participated. Lots of people and they even bought things ;-)

Remember this mosaic?

I finally finished it and it sold right away :-)

After experimenting with different kinds of faces I now decided to make a "real" clay face. I like it better than the last ones I did.

I also made a new mosaic mirror, in the shape of a figure:

Hubby is having a lot of trouble with the fact that she has no arms, but I just wanted a basic shape and not too many details. It's just a matter of preference I guess ...

Meanwhile my group exhibition has started. I was in the gallery today and I love the variety of art on display there. It'll be on until the 24th of September.

It would be nice if I sold some paintings. I have been trying to make a living as an artist since 2013, but it's damn hard. So I finally gave in and decided to follow my first love: psychology. I started working as a psychologist in a group practice with 4 other people, only one day a week for the time-being, but I really enjoy having colleagues again. I'm also doing some extra training, so my schedule is pretty full. Especially with the end of the year lurking around the corner, which means it's time for my yearly calendar.

But I'm going to try to keep blogging every week. I missed it and I missed the interaction with other artists. So I'll be linking to Paint Party Friday again and this weekend I'll finally pay everybody a visit :-)

One thing I also kept up is my daily diary-entries. Here are a few from the weeks when it was still summer ... (already pining for those lazy summer days ...)

That's it for now, except of course for the funnies :-)

and some to think about ....

Thanks for visiting! Hope everyone is safe out there, safe from water and wind and fire and smoke. And from stupidity and ignorance and hate ... Wishing you love and warmth and compassion.

See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

a short hello

I wasn't planning on writing anything on my blog today, but I've been missing in action for a bit longer than I'd planned so I'm here to just say a quick hello and tell you what's up :-)

I have been back from vacation since 2 weeks, but I haven't found a single moment to spend on my blog. I'm starting a new job in September and have a lot of preparation work to do for that. And, despite a promise to myself that I wouldn't do markets anymore, I am doing a market on the 3rd of September, and I can't back out of it anymore. I must admit I'm a bit pissed off with myself for that ...  And to top it all off I'm part of a group exhibition in a local gallery during the month of September. Also something that I planned before I had any idea I would be starting a new job ..... Aaaarrgghh.... Everything is happening at once and I'm freaking out!

Here's an ink drawing I did when I was still relaxed and on vacation .... She does look a bit worried I must say. Might've been thinking of all the work that was waiting ;-)

I did more and also have a lot of diary-spreads from the past weeks, but I'll show those after things have quieted down. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Hope all is well with you! I won't be able to visit any blogs the coming weeks, but I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone's been up to in the last weeks once things have slowed down here.

Take care and thanks for visiting ♥ ♥ ♥

Watercolour girls

I have discovered watercolours again! First with the smudges that I make faces of in my new diary, and now I'm also starting a new "series", if you can call it that, of watercolour girls. I have been sketching a lot of these in the last weeks and now I'm trying them out on watercolour paper. Here's the first one:

I have to try out some things for the background, not sure whether I'll leave it like this, but I had fun making this, and I'm sure more will follow, since it consists of two of my absolute favorite things: making faces and using quotes :-)

Last week I was at the coast with the kids and my mother, in a place with no internet. So I didn't make a blogpost. So here's my diary-spreads from the last two weeks:

Week 4 started out like this:

and turned into this:

And week 5 started like this:

and became this:

I have now gotten into the habit of writing a few lines about my day every day, and I really enjoy reading back through it. I also feel these spreads are becoming more "me". Quotes are creeping in, and I'm trying out different things. We'll see where it ends ....

I'm linking this to Paint Party Friday and will have a look at everyone's blogs this weekend. For the last time this month, since the summer holidays started and I'm going offline for a few weeks to enjoy the time together with family.

I'll leave you with some (actually a lot of!) funnies :-)

And the other ones ....

Thanks so much for your visit and for leaving such lovely comments. I wish you a wonderful day, and a weekend to remember (in a good way of course!).

Take care and I'll be back in a few weeks ♥ ♥ ♥
